Robotics Laboratory

The Robotics Laboratory (LabRob) aims to develop and control robotic systems based on the integration of fundamental physical knowledge of these systems with advanced computational methodologies. To achieve this goal, projects usually require detailed modeling and analysis, computer simulations and experimental studies, involving mechanical, electrical, control and computational intelligence engineering. Main topics: Design and Control of High Performance Robotic Manipulators – Electric, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Manipulators; High Frequency Control of Hydraulic Systems; Autonomous Mobile Robots – Design, Traction Control, Stability, Self-Localization, Mapping and Planning; Development of Advanced Robotic Actuators (Artificial Muscles); Human-Machine Interfaces, including brain and muscle interfaces.
